About
Your pet’s well-being is about his spirit as much as his body. I embrace the whole animal.”
Greta McVey, Acupuncturist
I am a licensed acupuncturist certified by the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture, with a veterinary-approved specialty certification in animal acupuncture. For more than 15 years I have helped dogs, cats, horses, and other animal companions achieve healthier and happier lives.
I was among the nation’s first acupuncturists to be certified in animal acupuncture as part of a unique state-sanctioned Maryland program. The additional training I received included coursework designed and taught by veterinarians, including
- diagnosis of energy dynamics and treatment of animals
- comparative functional anatomy and physiology of animals
- animal handling, restraints, and emergencies
- animal diseases and zoonotics that require the immediate attention of a veterinary practitioner
My training in acupuncture is more extensive than that of most veterinarians who are certified in acupuncture. A veterinary acupuncturist is first and foremost a veterinarian, whereas an animal acupuncturist is first and foremost an acupuncturist.
